Our nurses advocate for our clients as they work collaboratively with your health care professionals and your family members to coordinate care that ensures safety and promotes optimum wellness.

Medical Services

Always a Step Beyond sends nurses, therapists, and aides to the client’s home to provide many of the services* you might receive in a hospital, rehab facility, or nursing home. Our highly qualified and very attentive team of medical professionals can help with the following:

Cardiopulmonary Rehab helps people recover from heart attacks, heart surgery and other cardiac procedures such as stenting and angioplasty. Our Cardiac rehab program includes exercise training, education on heart healthy living, counseling to reduce stress to help you return to an active life and reduce the risk of future heart problems, including heart attacks.

Our chronic disease management programs are designed to manage chronic conditions, allowing patients to live life fully at home and help minimize the need for hospitalization.

We specialize in the following medical services:
• Alzheimer’s and Dementia
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Diabetes Care And Education
• Parkinson’s Disease

The goals of a neurological rehabilitation program include helping the individual to return to the highest level of function and independence, and improving the overall quality of life for that individual–physically, emotionally, and socially. By focusing on all aspects of a person’s wellbeing, neurorehabilitation offers a series of therapies from the psychological to occupational, teaching or re-training patients on mobility skills, communication processes, and other aspects of that person’s daily routine.

Whether they stem from accidents, injuries, degenerative joint disease or surgery, individuals with limited function, mobility, pain and other complications often require extensive orthopedic rehabilitation. Our comprehensive approach to orthopedic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation tailors treatment to help patients:
• Restore physical function and enhance the skills needed to perform daily activities
• Build strength and endurance
• Improve balance and regain mobility
• Optimize independence

Observation and assessment of a client’s condition may be necessary when there is a reasonable potential for changes in a client’s condition that requires skilled nursing personnel to identify and evaluate the patient’s need for possible modification of treatment, or initiation of additional medical procedures, until the client’s clinical condition and/or treatment regime has stabilized.

Our skilled clinicians are experienced in caring for and managing a variety of wound conditions in order to speed recovery, increase patient independence and comfort, and reduce the incidence of wound recurrence, complications and infection. We provide care for common wound conditions, including pressure ulcers, vascular and diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, fistulas, and skin breakdown due to incontinence.

Non-Medical Services

Our non-medical support services are designed to help our clients live a comfortable and independent life at home for as long as possible. These services can be personalized to include everything from a little extra help with the housework, to a few hours of companionship per day, to regular support for clients with Alzheimer’s.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our clients, we carefully screen all care providers, performing a reference and criminal history background check on each potential employee and providing general liability and worker’s compensation insurance.

ASB care providers are matched to the individual needs of our clients. Should you or your family request another care provider for any reason, we’ll search for a match until you are fully satisfied.

Our compassionate, trustworthy and certified Home Health Aids and Personal Care Attendants are available to assist with dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, ambulating, medication reminders and light housekeeping. They are trained in all areas of personal care needs, are CPR certified and have met all requirements for employment, including background checks. They work hand in hand with our nurses and therapists to ensure that each patient’s care plan is carried out according to the wishes of the patient, their family and the patient’s physician. Our personal home care team is here to give you peace of mind, knowing that your loved one is in good hands.

Homemaker services include a range of non-medical services, including basic meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry and ironing, changing linens, vacuuming, dishwashing and other support services that help make a senior’s life more manageable. We also provide emotional support and companionship for seniors who are generally healthy and want to remain independent in their home.

Caring for an elderly, chronically ill, or disabled family member may simply be a part of daily life, but it is a demanding role and no one is equipped to do it alone. It’s normal to need a break, that can benefit both the patient as well as the caregiver.

Our Respite Care Service provides short-term breaks that can relieve stress, restore energy, and promote balance in your life. Respite care can be for an ill or special needs adult or child, such as a child with autism or an adult with Alzheimer’s. Our services may be arranged for a weekend, a day, or even for an hour. Call us today and we will schedule respite care for you on a regular basis or just one time to give you the break you need.
